Living in faith Day by day
Joanne Stephens
I always used to think that faith was just about believing for healing, or a new car, or a financial miracle, having faith to move a mountain, or to walk on water, and when I didn't see these things happen - and getting very wet feet in the process - it became a little disheartening. Did I even have any faith?
I have prayed for some things with all my heart, with every fibre of my being, believing and hoping and trusting, eyes squeezed tightly shut, face scrunched up in concentration, excitement building - certain that as soon as I opened my eyes, "voila!", the miracle would have taken place. And yet, time after time, nothing! But why nothing? Is my faith really that weak? And time after time of nothings made me question if I had any faith at all. I'd question why I hadn't seen miracles, and would ask God to show me miracles to increase my faith - but I'd always be reminded of when Jesus said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29)
And then one day, God opened my eyes (I love it when that happens)! Faith is not just about the miracles, it isn't about raising the dead and walking on water and all those one off experiences. No, we are to live by faith day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute! The life that I now live I live by faith. Christ dwells in our hearts through faith. We live knowing that Christ lives in us and it is through knowing His love that we experience the fulness of God! Wow!! More...
